Methods

Summary

Our aim is to determine whether retroviral sequences are being re-expressed in the aging human transcriptome and if their re-activation can lead to the appearance of alternative cryptic Transcription Start Sites (TSS).  To verify this hypothesis we will take advantage of RNA-Seq/CAGE-Seq experiments derived from donors whose biological age is known.  We plan to screen and reprocess from raw data hundreds of samples.
