Methods

Summary

Planned project methods includes works with communities to increase their awareness regarding Leishmaniasis disease transmission, improve sand fly vector control and monitoring strategies, and empower people to enhance health, care for the Earth, and ultimately prevent the Leishmaniasis within the area in an environmentally friendly and non-invasive manner.

Pre Analysis Plan

The primary analysis will be compared mean scores of the dependent measures of level of awareness on the disease leishmaniasis and sand fly vectors, with independent variable of the incidence of sand fly bites and leishmaniasis disease using the relevant individual questions in the variable of pre-intervention and post-intervention of the mobile vector surveillance unit (MVSU).

Then multiple item means will be used for developing the scale with a mean sum score. Two variables were identified within-subjects factor, time (pre-intervention and post-intervention), and the mean sum scores within these two variables reflect the dependent variable related factors of awareness on the disease leishmaniasis and sand fly vectors with independent variable of the incidence of sand fly bites and leishmaniasis disease. The group variable will be identified with the difference of the interventions as the control group (CG) and the intervention group (IG) in two distinct areas within Anuradhapura District.
