Assessing the resilience of Maui's coral reefs to support reef restoration

The monitoring protocol proposed here fits within the Hawai'i Coral Reef Strategy 2020-2030, which is to “increase the ecological function and integrity of coral reefs by: 1) developing the Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR)’s role in coral reef ecosystem management for restoration projects statewide; and, 2) supporting effective restoration projects, especially those that are led by public and private partners”. Similarly, this project aims to support restoration efforts that enhance the resistance and recovery of coral reefs impacted by local and global anthropogenic stressors.
