Camera trap deployment and local surveys

Camera trapping methodology has been proven completely harmless to animal communities and very useful in detecting cryptic or rare species (Carthew & Slater 1991, Kucera & Barrett 2011).

Local herders surveys will provide insights that will be rasterised for analysis. The spatialy explicit will help us to identify the areas where conflict mitigation actions are more needed.

Occupancy analysis will be done after the camera retrieval. Single season occupancy model will help us identify the main spatial covariates that make wolves to be using some of the stations and not others. Therfore, we will obtain values of Occupancy and probability of detection for HImalayan wolves projected over the whole study area.
