A quick word before we publish more detailed updates in the next few days: Thanks to your support, we've just raised the entire budget to make both forms of proinsulin! (Our initial goal and our first stretch goal.) Now, we're turning our fundraising focus to the first steps in the cutting and folding of proinsulin. We've also been busy giving interviews this week and will be gathering the articles here as they come out. Thanks again for your support. More coming soon!

A team of biohackers is developing the first open source protocol to produce insulin simply and economically. Our work may serve as a basis for generic production of this life-saving drug and provide a firmer foundation for continued research into improved versions of insulin.
