Lichens, formed from the symbiotic relationship between a fungus and an algae, are fascinating yet often overlooked organisms. In particular, very little is known about dispersal and population structuring. The goal of our study, focusing on the common british soldier lichen (Cladonia cristatella) is to increase the understanding of how lichens disperse through the environment and how local populations are genetically structured.
