First Materials ordered

Exciting update! Despite delays last year, the first parts of my prototype are now ordered, and half the prototype will be getting put together this December or January! I am super excited to turn my attention back to this project now that I have all the resources I need. I'm very grateful to experiment.com for the funding, and very grateful to all my funders for their patience in waiting for an update on my project! I will post pictures when I have them in a month or so. Things are coming together!!

Thanks everyone!

About This Project

University of California Santa Cruz

In response to the climate crisis and fears of food insecurity, regenerative kelp farming is emerging as a popular new method of carbon fixing and sustainable food production. Kelp is versatile, its practical applications ranging from hair products, to pharmaceuticals, to plant protein substitutes. The process of growing kelp is labor-intensive, and smaller farms often lack funding for workers, so I developed a mechanism to improve yield while reducing human labor.
