About Oliver Beer is a Doctoral Candidate in the College of Social Work at The Ohio State University. He holds a BA in Social Work and an MSc in Social Research Methods. Oliver is a registered (licensed) social worker in England and he has several years of frontline experience within England’s child welfare system.
Oliver’s research interests include the health and well-being of social workers, particularly practitioners’ responses to work-related stressors and their subsequent coping behaviors. Oliver is interested in mindfulness-based training in terms of its use as a buffer against the effects of occupational stress. Oliver has presented his research in the U.K., U.S., Japan, and Mexico. His research has been published in several journals, including The British Journal of Social Work, The British Association of Social Workers, Child Abuse & Neglect, New Media + Society, The International Journal of Research Methodologies, and The European Journal of Social Work. In addition, he co-authored a book chapter in 2020.
