The FDA approved the pharmaceutical form of CBD, Epidiolex, in June 2018. It is used to treat seizures in people with Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, two rare medical conditions characterized by seizures. However, the exact mechanism of action of CBD is not yet known. CBD is a non-addictive chemical found in the Cannabis sativa plant. It is one of more than 80 cannabinoids in cannabis and accounts for up to 40% of the plant's extract. Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive and does not cause a high, which makes it an attractive therapeutic drug target. Some brands of CBD isolate contain over 99% purity. It's also free of pesticides, heavy metals, and contaminants. Click here for more information.
