I completed my PhD at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), where I trained in immunology and disease pathogenesis. I then pursued my postdoctoral research at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, an NCI-designated cancer center in Tampa, Florida, where I focused on developing cell therapies for leukemia. My work there centered around engineering immune cells to recognize and destroy cancer cells, laying the foundation for my expertise in cell therapy.
Following my postdoc, I joined Fate Therapeutics in San Diego, where I contributed to the development of iPSC-derived cell therapies targeting various cancers. This experience gave me direct exposure to cutting-edge cell therapy technologies in a biotech setting. I later moved to Caribou Biosciences, a company founded by Nobel laureate Jennifer Doudna, where I played a key role in developing engineered NK cell therapies for autoimmune diseases.
These roles sharpened my expertise in cell engineering, gene editing, and translational development. This background directly informs our current work on endometriosis, where we aim to apply cell therapy approaches to selectively target and eliminate unwanted fibrotic and inflammatory tissue—offering a much-needed, innovative solution for this underserved disease.
