I am an undergraduate student at the University of Oregon studying molecular biology. My interests lie in the realm of molecular genetics where I am able to look at the structure and function of specific genes through mutations and genetically engineered DNA strands. This project stood out to me because it allows for us to better understand the genetic variation of cold water species as well as allowing for us to target specific genes responsible for life longevity. The knowledge gained from our project may help enhance gene therapy treatments in anti-aging research.
