Telescopic handlers - full technical specifications
A telehandler, known as a telescopic arm lift according to the Construction Machinery List (BGL), but also widely known as a telescopic handler or telehandler, is a mobile construction machine designed as an equipment carrier. This means that equipped with different pieces of equipment, it can perform different tasks. In addition to construction, machines are also increasingly used in agriculture, for example for stacking and transporting large-format forage bales and valuables.
Telehandlers are often equipped with large cargo forks (also for containers), but can usually replace the load handle.
Reach stackers also feature a telescopic arm that can be raised at an angle, but specializes in handling containers (20, 40, 45 feet) by grabbing corner mounts from the top or replacing bodies by reaching underneath from the top. At least Liebherr has been building the type (LRS645) with a round telescopic arm since 2011, when they together form a circular sector with an angle of 50 °. Its particular advantage is that it can reach the 2nd row container in front of the container which is stacked at the same height in the 1st row and is easier to go down from the high deck to the deep deck of the ship.
Vertical mast loaders, even if the mast is telescopic, are called mast loaders (not telescopic loaders).
