Dr. Herbert Van Kruiningen is an emeritus professor at the University of Connecticut. He received his DVM and PhD in Pathology from Cornell University, and his Medical Degree from Brown University. Dr. Van Kruiningen has taught various undergraduate courses throughout his academic career as a professor, and was the Department head of the Department of Pathobiology and Veterinary Science at the University of Connecticut for a number of years. He has published extensively in veterinary medicine, as well as 46 articles on the pathogenesis of Crohn's disease. He is a respected researcher in the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) community and is highly qualified to lead this project: developing a mouse model for Crohn's disease. He recently published a description of an infectious pig model of CD.
