I am a veterinarian living in Scotland and after graduating in 2018 from the University of Edinburgh I have spent my early career working as a first opinion practitioner looking after companion and farm animals. In the last few years I have come to appreciate how our relationship with animals (both pets and livestock) and our day-to-day actions are having a deleterious effect on the wildlife and ecosystems locally and globally. This led me to apply for the MVetSci Conservation Medicine course through the University of Edinburgh to help me explore about what conservation work entails and what is the role of a veterinarian no matter their background. I am currently in my final year of the course and writing my dissertation and hope to start my small contribution to the conservation of wildlife through this project.
