Mark Oremus is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Health and Health Systems, University of Waterloo. He is President of the Canadian Society for Epidemiology and Biostatistics and Chair Elect of the International Joint Policy Committee - Societies of Epidemiology. Dr. Oremus’s research interests lie in chronic diseases and aging, with a focus on health-related quality-of-life in Alzheimer’s disease and risk/protective factors for cognition. He conducts research into the effects of religion/spirituality on cognition, the effects of electroconvulsive therapy on cognitive performance in persons with treatment-resistant depression, and hypertension and cognition. Dr. Oremus is the Vice Chair of the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging's (CLSA's) Data and Sample Access Committee. He once served as the CLSA's Associate Scientific Director and Interim National Program Manager.
