All Macao hotels must comply with the new Tourism Law which prohibits smoking. All guests in all hotels and commercialised resorts will need to wear nicotine-dispensing masks, undergo heat checks and give a special Macao Health Code upon request. Smoking is deemed to be a dangerous 'recreational habit' and is strictly prohibited within all resorts and hotels. The move was made to curb the island's growing smoking rate and has led to several airlines halting air travel to Macau. However, other international carriers have remained resolute to let go their flights to the tiny region.
