She received her BA in Behavioral Science from Columbia College in Columbia, SC and her MSW from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC, where she worked for the Center for Social Welfare Research and Assessment. She has worked in the fields of aging, palliative care and long term care administration. Sara is particularly interested in the emancipatory role of in depth case studies, especially for persons living with, and within, societal margins. She has presented her research in numerous local, regional, national, and international venues, including the University of Bath and the University of Iceland. She is a 2018 Fulbright Research Scholar Semi-finalist and was selected for the 2016 AGE SW Pre-Dissertation Initiative fellowship and serves as an appointee for the SC Lieutenant Governor’s Office on Aging Alzheimer’s Advisor Board.
