Additional Information
A solar oven, also known as a solar cooker, is an innovative device that harnesses the power of the sun's rays to cook food.
This eco-friendly cooking method is not only sustainable but also cost-effective, as it reduces reliance on traditional energy sources. The beauty of a solar oven lies in its simplicity and versatility, capable of cooking a wide variety of foods ranging from baked goods to stews and roasted meats. Building a simple homemade solar oven can be an engaging and educational project.
To begin, you will need two cardboard boxes of different sizes, aluminum foil, clear plastic wrap, black paint, newspaper for insulation, and glue. Start by painting the inside of the smaller box black to absorb heat and line the larger box and the inside flaps of the smaller box with aluminum foil to reflect sunlight into the box.
Place the smaller box inside the larger one and fill the gap with crumpled newspaper for insulation. Cover the top with clear plastic wrap to trap heat inside and your solar oven is ready for use. Position it towards the sun for maximum exposure and monitor temperature regularly for safe cooking. With this simple yet effective tool, you can explore a new realm of culinary possibilities while promoting sustainable living.
