Methods

Summary

All our experiments explore the interactive effects of two environmental parameters. Treatments include a control, held at present-day levels of Long Island Sound, two single-stress treatments that alter one environmental parameter, and a multi-stress treatment, where both environmental parameters are manipulated to projected levels associated with climate change from the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). Bolded text below indicates projected level for the year 2300.

Explores the interactive effects of elevated temperature and ocean acidification

o   Control Treatment: Temperature (20°C) + Control pCO2 (400uatm)

o   Single stress #1: Elevated Temperature (27°C) + Control pCO2 (400uatm)

o   Single stress #2: Control Temperature (20°C) + Elevated pCO2 (2000uatm)

o   Multi-stress: Elevated Temperature (27°C) + Elevated pCO2 (2000uatm)
