My Experiment Protocol for Mizu-Wai

Throughout this project, including during the community workshops, I will ensure that Lineage of Knowledge attribution is embedded in all story-sharing and data collection practices. Participants will be invited to acknowledge where their water knowledge and stories originate within the community. To support this, story-sharing sheets will include a designated space for “Lineage of Knowledge Source.”

All audio, written, and woven contributions will be accompanied by a media release form to ensure consent. Participants will also have the opportunity to review how their stories are represented in the Augmented Reality artwork prior to its public release as part of the final installation.

In gathering materials, we will follow Hawaiian protocols for respectful access to and care of hala trees, guided by East Maui kumu weavers. At the conclusion of the installation, the small community weavings will be ceremonially removed and returned to each contributing weaver. All contributors will be acknowledged in subsequent documentation and publications.
