WOWW at the Freshman Success Academy (FSA)

This Spring of 2017, our WOWW coaches have been full force working alongside the dedicated teachers of the FSA in Junction City, KS. Our WOWW coaches have been collaborating with two full teams of teachers, totaling 8 classes in all. Some of the class goals the students came up with and decided they wanted to work on this spring include:

- "Maturity"           - "Safe and Collaborative Environment"

- "Teamwork"        -  "Participation"

- "Respect"            - "Alertness"

- "Integrity"            - "Dignity"

- "Friendly and kind"

These teachers and students excel at highlighting the positive and it's been a blast to see the teachers giving sticky notes and scaling the class goals with the students! The WOWW coaches have been impressed with how much encouragement these students have also given to each other as they've been working toward being more "friendly" and "respectful" in their scaling. These pics are the students in action using one of the cool scaling techniques their teacher came up with!

About This Project

The Working on What Works (WoWW) program uses classroom coaches to highlight what is going well, foster collaborative relationships between teachers and students, and help the class set goals towards a positive classroom environment. We plan to do the first quasi-experimental study evaluating the impact of WoWW on adolescent emotional and behavioral engagement, teacher efficacy, and the parent-teacher relationship in a Kansas high school serving a highly diverse and military connected community.

Blast off!
