Dr Ahn has been researching and teaching CO2 capture and separation processes as a member of UoE’s carbon capture group (https://www.carboncapture.eng.ed.ac.uk/) since 2009. Prior to this, he had been trained as a process engineer whilst working in the refining and petrochemical industry. He has developed various separation processes using absorption, adsorption and fluidisation for pre- and post- combustion capture and conducted techno-economic assessment of various carbon capture options for the power and industrial plants. Hyungwoong carried out research projects funded by EPSRC and South Korea KETEP and consultancies for governments and industries. His H-index is 27 as of 2022.
