I've always been fascinated by many things, from science and the natural world to politics and culture from our man-created world. I'm obsessed with our humanness, our frailties and limitations but also our great capacity to change, transform and excel. I've been a self-improvement junkie for decades - consuming books, articles, tapes that promised a 'new improved you'. I've gained some nuggets from some of these sources but been disillusioned by others. The last decade I've been a teacher trying to help young adults learn. I've been frustrated as they struggle to pay attention and in many cases don't even try. They expect the teacher to entertain them. They want to be passive and just have the learning come into them. They'll study maybe but only if they have to. This is not how the real world operates. No company, colleague, customer etc. is obligated to entertain you so you can don't have to work to pay attention. Paying attention when you don't want to is critical to success in business and life. The last 4 years I've been on a mission to bring science, the scientific method and creative and critical thinking to the epidemic of attention-challenges that affect our schools. We have been successful in putting together a world-class team of academics, clinicians, engineers and marketers to construct a solution we think will make a difference in the lives of many young people and equip for fulfilling lives.
