Candace Konnert is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Calgary. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (with a specialty in Aging) from the University of Southern California. She is a recent recipient of a University of Calgary Teaching Excellence Award and the Canadian Council of Professional Psychology Programs Excellence in Training Award. Dr. Konnert’s current research, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, focuses on planning for future dependency among middle-aged and older adults, which includes the role of social support in facilitating planning within families and across diverse cultural groups. She also focuses on mental health and aging, more specifically the prevention of depression among long-term care residents, post-traumatic stress disorder among older veterans, and mental health care utilization among older Chinese Canadians.
