About
My day job is an academic at a major research university on the West Coast of the U.S.. My "nights and weekends" job is being the Executive Director of the Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST), a citizen science program dedicated to bringing people together to bear witness to the changes in the nearshore marine environment in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. We do that by teaching coastal residents how to search a beach for beach-cast birds, or for marine debris. I'm a devotee of everyone having the opportunity to join the science team, learn something new, have fun, and make a positive difference in your community and in the environment we all share.
