Visualizing and quantifying gut mucus. (Last lab note for publics)

On our previous lab note, we showed the visualization and quantification of acidic lysosomes in gut cells. Those lysosomes are mostly produced in innate immune cells such as macrophages and neu...

Visualizing and quantifying lysosome in fish gut

Today we are reporting results for our first milestone: Establish live zebrafish quantifiable staining matrices with lysosomal pH. Our previous lab note showed that we are able to mimic acute, ...

Thank you to all our backers for believing in us and becoming a part of our research project. We will still work hard on fine tune our beautiful zebrafish IBD model for therapeutic application and hopefully make precision medicine a reality one day.

In inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) microbial studies, there is an expansion of the Proteobacteria phylum in patients with IBD. Individual Proteobacteria, in particular Escherichia coli, Campylobacter concisus and enterohepatic Helicobacter, have all been associated with the pathogenesis of IBD. Here, we are using E.coli as pathogenic bacteria for this project and hope to expand into the special subset: adherent-invasive Escherichia coli (AIEC) in the near future.
