Thobani is a geospatial enthusiast with an insatiable curiosity for the world around us, driven by the pursuit of knowledge and excellence. He holds a bachelor's degree in geomatics from the prestigious University of Cape Town and is currently a candidate for the Master of Science in Engineering. His research interests span a wide range of fields including photogrammetry and remote sensing, physical geodesy, geographic information system (GIS), land surveying and cadastral surveying and law. His current research focuses on ground deformation monitoring, real-time digital elevation modelling (DEM) for precise geoid modelling, and natural disaster susceptibility mapping using Sentinel1/radar imagery and InSAR time series analysis. In addition, he was part of the engineering survey team responsible for the 1-billion-rand upgrade of the N2 on the North Coast between the Mtunzini toll plaza and the Empangeni T-junction in KwaZulu-Natal. He is also passionate about making a difference through his work, constantly exploring new frontiers in geospatial-science and seeking new challenges and opportunities to grow in the field.
