I am a Marine Fisheries scientist with experience in various multidisciplinary aspects of fisheries biology and ecology, stock assessment, fish genetics, and marine mammal research in the Western Indian Ocean Region.
I am currently working on billfish species, and their interactions with different types of fishers, artisanal, sport, and commercial fishers. In this work, I have engaged with the fishers ad managers to find ways to understand the catches, improve data collection and capacity enhancement, and the linkage/influences with the users for effective conservation and management of billfish in the Western Indian Ocean region This ensures that the project is run in all 10 Western Indian Ocean countries (https://billfishwio.com/). With this work in fisheries, I aim to improve the lives of coastal people, especially women. I am also very dedicated to marine data management.
