Motivation

When working in a large institute I noticed the temperature sensitive biologicals were stored in a -80 Freezer. When trying to start a basic lab I discovered a -80 freezer costs about 15K, weights in excess of one tonne, needs reinforced floor and consumes heaps of KW.

So that is a no go for a smaller lab. Many temperature sensitive biologicals like enzymes can be stored for a year or more in a fridge that does not have a defrost cycle. However that type of fridges are not common. So the challenge became finding a solution that could use a normal fridge that is ubiquitous. That is the motivation for this project.

Nice Post. SumitMotivation fuels optimism and resiliency, enabling people to overcome obstacles and seek their goals with unflinching resolve all that money the money is the motive. By sharing real stories and useful advice, it builds a community around the common goal of personal development. It's a transformative path towards reaching one's full potential, not just motivation.

About This Project

Temperature-sensitive reagents are common in biology labs, and often
need to be stored in expensive ultra low temperature ULT refrigerators.
This is one of the highest cost barriers to setting up a biology lab and
makes research incredibly difficult in low resource settings. An enzyme
cooler stored within a standard freezer can be a viable alternative. We
plan to design, build, and test an open-source enzyme cooler that can be
built for as little as $25 without sacrificing performance.
