Summer Update

Hello all - sorry about the hiatus in updates. It has been a busy summer and I haven't had a chance to add to the site yet.

I did have the opportunity to present our project at two conferences this summer: The 6th International Comics and Medicine Conference at UC Riverside, and the Association of Medical Illustrators Conference at the Cleveland Clinic. Thanks again for all your support - I'm pleased to let you know that our project earned an Award of Merit in the category of student animation at the AMI Conference Salon.

Also on the heels of this project I am starting a research fellowship at the National Library of Medicine, which I am very excited about! Professorspine is still on my mind though and I would like to next develop an interactive graphic to illustrate the different spinal levels. It may take a bit of time as I settle in to my new position, but I'll upload some design sketches when I get a chance!

About This Project

Education is key in the rehab process for spinal cord damage, but precious few resources for children exist. We will build an engaging, dynamic website to fill this void, and test the use of illustrated techniques for teaching biomedical concepts to children.

Blast off!
