New Toxins - Still Growing

The three toxin-tolerant fungi are being exposed to multiple toxins in an attempt to detect some initial level of sensitivity. Looks like we're going to have to change the scale of tolerance. Progress is what progress does.

Three fungi times four toxins, again. We alter the growth morphology pattern, but not the fact of growth. This is good news in preparation for switching to liquid media with exposure to multiple toxins.

About This Project

The Precautionary Group

We've discovered a few new mushrooms thriving in this harsh environment of land-disposed sewage sludge in Snoqualmie, Washington. We're testing these mushrooms for new antimicrobial properties. Microbes that survive exposure to toxic sewage sludge engage adaptive mechanisms that transform toxins into secondary metabolites.
