Thank You to Mark!

Today we're thanking Mark D. - twice! That's because Mark sponsored not 1, but 2 large jackets for the 2018 Field Expedition!!! Both of Mark's jackets are from the Mother's Day Site in the famously dinosaur-rich Jurassic Morrison Formation.

The first jacket contains a single, complete, beautiful dorsal vertebra from a juvenile Diplodocus. This bone was actually found on the last day of the 2017 field season, but without the necessary time to properly excavate it, we were forced to leave it in place, covered with protective plastic, and left for this season. That's going to be a gorgeous specimen!

 

 

The second jacket also contains a vertebral centrum, but also some portions of some ribs. Another great specimen!
