We Have Liftoff!

We've finished enrolling over 50 study participants into the Nosha for Neighbors program. The food pantry shoppers were much more receptive to Nosha than we had anticipated. Nearly half of all food pantry shoppers expressed interest in the program, and nearly one-third of all food pantry shoppers asked to participate after sampling Nosha and learning more about the study requirements.

No interested participants were excluded based on predetermined criteria that included age, pregnancy, and allergy to any Nosha ingredients. All participants provided their informed consent to join the study and completed the initial questionnaire. Participants received their first 2-week supply of Nosha during enrollment.

We have established direct contact with participants beginning three to five days after their enrollment. 64% of participants were reached on first attempt by either phone or text. These participants stated that they had begun drinking Nosha without any difficulty.

I've illustrated our participant enrollment process in detail below. It was reviewed and approved by an independent institutional review board, SolutionsIRB, prior to implementation.

About This Project

In the United States, hunger is commonplace. 42 million Americans struggle to get the healthy foods they need. We want to find a solution. This study will provide a convenient, nutrient-rich meal called Nosha to food pantry shoppers. The study will assess whether access to Nosha supports food security, protects resources, and contributes to the health of this at-risk population. Our findings may offer a new strategy towards closing America's widening nutrition gap.
