Thank you!

We reached our goal! We are unbelievably appreciative and overwhelmed that we've already reached our initial goal of $6,750 with 8 days left! Thank you so much to each and every one of you that contributed to help us get here. We could not have done it without you. We hope that you all know how valuable you are. And we also hope that you follow along at www.floridaleatherbacks.com. We will maintain a blog as we begin our season in a few short days. This blog will include updates and notes from the field. We are still hoping for a record season!

And it's not over yet. We have eight more days to raise funds for the leatherback project. We have added a stretch goal with the hope of funding our ATV fuel for the season. It costs us over $2,000 to operate our ATVs throughout our 3 month field season. We hope that you continue to spread the word to your friends. Each and every dollar from this point forward comes back to the project and we don't want it to stop here!

Thank you everyone! The leatherbacks appreciate your support!

About This Project

Leatherback sea turtles (Dermochelys coriacea) are the largest species of sea turtle, often reaching over 900 kg. The goal of our study, conducted along the beaches of southern Florida is to understand the size of the leatherback population, individual size, migratory patterns, family lineages, and other important aspects of leatherback biology. Studies like ours are critical to help protect this endangered species from the threat of extinction.
