Updates from the Lab

Hello all of my wonderful backers!

Thank you so much for your support! This is a very exciting time for me. I have progressed from the planning to the doing stage of my project (though the planning never really stops).

Last week Dr. Jeanne Robertson, Emma Collosi, Nicole Looper, and I began the first round of DNA extractions (from the samples that were previously collected by Dr. Robertson).

This week, I will quantify the DNA we have extracted and do some additional extractions as well.

Thanks to your support, we have raised over 40% of the target amount and I have just over a month to make my goal a reality!

I have added some rewards with the hopes of encouraging people to contribute. For those of you who have already donated, you will receive a gift for your level of contribution. And of course, you can increase your pledge if there is a higher level you would like to reach!

Thanks again!

Maria

About This Project

The red-eyed treefrog exhibits variation among populations, including differences in color pattern, body size and advertisement calls. Genetic analyses show that populations in Costa Rica and Panama have differentiated despite spatial overlap, indicating that evolutionary forces are at work. Understanding the extent of genomic divergence among populations that remain in contact can reveal the relative strength of evolutionary forces.

Blast off!
