In 2011 I had never been to a dig. When I joined the volunteer crew, I found some of the warmest hard working people I have ever met. They welcomed me and showed me the ropes. There are multiple finds almost each time we dig. Being a swamp with 23 foot crocs, much of the items found may be due to feeding activity. Items have been found with croc bite marks. The site has an unusual aspect of having both animal and plant material. Many seeds and carbonized wood fragments have been collected from AAS. Some of the wonderful aspects of the site are, the ability to volunteer with no prior experience, the public tours and the outreach programs.
