My name is Christoph Lahtz. I come from Germany and studied there Biochemistry and made my PhD in Cancer Epigenetics over there as well. For my Postdoc, I came to Los Angeles and switched after a few years to the industry. At the moment I live in San Diego. So far for my day job background.
Besides that, I am highly interested in space biology/medicine/genetics and Astrobiology. The key question of Biochemistry is actually how life came to be. Therefore life in extreme habitats - the so-called extremophiles - and what we can learn from them to find life on other celestial bodies and look at the right places drives my thinking. At the moment we work on a non-profit organization to focus on the Origin of Life, Extremophiles, Astrobiology and Bioastronautics.
