Can we express a synthetic gene of interest in bacteria for study as an antiviral?

We have a complete protocol for all the labwork in this experiment, however it is subject to change and revision as we go along, depending on many variables. In our lab notes as will be published here and on our blog, we will share our protocol for each segment of the experiment immediately before we start it in the lab and follow up with a report on the results.
