Methods

Summary

We will be collecting 3 waves of survey data over the course of 6 months and conduct a narrative interview with Asians and Asian American between the age of 18-30 who currently reside in the U.S. These surveys and interviews will ask about stress, social support, identity, and experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants will be asked to recall and describe specific instances of discrimination.

Challenges

One of the biggest challenges is we want to collect qualitative data from all our participants (at least 300). Another challenge is recruitment and retention because we need to have at least 300 participants who participated in all 3 time points.

Pre Analysis Plan

Data analysis plan involves both narrative coding and quantitative analyses. Participants' narratives will be coded for various narrative characteristics such as meaning-making. Latent growth curve modeling will be used as the major analytic tools to address the aims of this study.
