About This Project

The chocolate chip cookie recipe has never been standardized. If you've alway wondered what goes into making a chocolate chip cookie chewy, cakey, or crunchy then you're going to like this project. I plan to make 8-10 batches of cookies at three different temperatures switching out one independent variable at a time. I will start by comparing creamed butter to melted butter. For every $100 contributed to this project, I will test an additional variable. You're also invited to join me at my home and eat the cookies if you become a backer.

What is the context of this research?

It is extremely difficult to make the perfect chocolate chip cookie. What is perfect for you may not be the case for your best friend, your dog, or your grandma. With this research project I will explore techniques that make a cookie chewy, cakey, etc.

What is the significance of this project?

It is not difficult to find a chocolate chip recipe online, but it is difficult to bake your favorite chocolate chip cookie. This research is not necessarily critical to humanity (although this point can be argued), but I think it can be extremely valuable to know how to adjust a recipe to make the cookie chewy, cakey, etc. You just never know. The perfect cookie could win over your future husband or wife, a prospective boss, or just be a reminder of how great the simple things in life are. 🍪

What are the goals of the project?

I plan to make 8-10 batches of chocolate chip cookies using this recipe. I will be using the identical recipe for each batch but will compare creamed butter with melted butter. Each batch of cookies will also be baked at 3 different temperatures 375, 400, 425.
