Choosing hives - Kasten kiezen

Since the budget only allows monitoring of three hives, emphasis lies on sensor measurements and not on hive design or location.

However, a small comparison between the two main geological regions - Kempen (sand) and Haspengouw (loam) - in the province is preferred. The geological conditions influence vegetation types and therefore flower (and pollen) diversity.

Location of the three hives (tentative) on Google Maps.

When possible, hives with different insulating properties should be chosen in order to compare hive conditions and accompanying energy consumption.

*****
