i-cows hit the headlines, as I hit the ground in Botswana!

I'm really pleased to report some very positive press on our (yours and my) i-cow idea. This includes the interview I conducted on SkyNews posted below, and lots of printed press articles and radio stories which you can find, if your interested, here on my website.

In other news, your generous donations mean that I have managed to source not one, but three lion radio-collars from Africa Wildlife Tracking! I am waiting for the collars to arrive on site now (probably two-weeks away), but I am extremely excited to get them out on the lions. The data is going to be awesome, so thank you again, and I will hopefully be back soon with more updates...

About This Project

A major reason that lions are in decline is that many are killed every day in retaliation for eating livestock. As ambush predators, lions rely on stalking and surprise, so being seen by their prey usually means they abandon their hunt. In rural Botswana I will test whether painting intimidating eye patterns onto cows hides reduces livestock losses. If successful, this inexpensive tool will help to safeguard the lives of lions and the livelihoods of subsistence farmers alike.

Blast off!
