Project Progress

Hello Backers! It's been a busy winter here and with any luck spring is around the corner and we can begin to warm up! The project continues to move forward smoothly and so far 6 dogs have completed the study! It's to early to analyze any data but the feeling is that the amino acid dogs are warmer than the control group dogs. We are so happy to be in the data collection phase of the study and marvel each day we are conducting the study that there are all of you behind this project rooting us on! Thanks again and we will be in touch again soon!

About This Project

Hypothermia, low body temperature, is one of the most common complications of anesthesia and can result in serious side effects. Metabolism of amino acids, the building block of protein, occurs in all tissues in the body and heat is generated as a natural by-product. We will test the hypothesis that administration of amino acids to dogs undergoing anesthesia for a spay will have a significantly higher body temperature at the conclusion of surgery than dogs that do not receive amino acids.

Blast off!
