A big delivery
It has been a couple of weeks since my last update, but I am excited to announce that the custom panel that we designed with experts at Arbor Biosciences (https://arborbiosci.com/) has arrived in East Lansing as of last week! Over the next couple of months I will be working on testing the panel using genetic samples we collected from brook trout across the species range.
I am also pleased to announce I will be presenting a poster on my research progress at the Joint Aquatic Sciences Meeting (JASM) in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on May 16th (https://jasm2022.aquaticsocieties.org/). JASM is one of the world's largest gatherings of aquatic scientists, practitioners, students, resource agency staff, and industry representatives. This meeting is hosted by The Consortium of Aquatic Science Societies (CASS), which is comprised of 9 groups representing various interests in the aquatic sciences realm, including the American Fisheries Society (AFS), which I am heavily involved in. I also recently presented the same research at the annual Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior Symposium and Michigan State University and was recognized with best student poster! As such, I want to offer a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me in my work and helped me to get to where I am now.
In the coming weeks you can expect additional updates coming out of our research lab, including lab activities, troubleshooting, as well as generating the first rounds of data for this project! As always, thank you for your support and please feel free to reach out with any questions or collaborations.
