Fabulous notes, thanks. And really nice to learn about Seed the Commons. They seem like a wonderful organization, and I'm glad you are interfacing with them. I'm sure there will be some great synergies that develop from this networking. Have you had any interaction with the "Real Organic Project" yet? They seem wonderful too. I can say in the Sustainable Ag community down here in North Carolina, there isn't much in the way of vegan anything. BUT, the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association always has excellent vegan food available at their events. I really appreciate that. Keep up the great work, and looking forward to learning more from your efforts. Thanks!

We don't use humanure on our farm, mostly because we're not experienced with any of the issues. We have enough work to do without the added complexity (operational, food safety, marketing, etc). I'm sure there are many possible variations in what people think of as the boundaries of "veganic agriculture", but for us it's very simple. No animal inputs included in our soil amendments and no farm work animals. Obviously, we have about a zillion "animal" organisms working in the soil for our benefit, and the local wildlife visitors, some of which we label as lovely (e.g. a fox walking by), and some of which we label as annoying (e.g. squirrels and raccoons eating our harvest).

We're excited to have found out about your project, and we're happy to help. We are a small veganic farm in North Carolina. Good luck! Mark Epstein. (www.flow.farm)
