Methods

Challenges

Genomes are very complex and dynamic--and spider genomes are especially hard. Why is this? Spider genomes have large repetitive regions (where DNA will be in a repetitive sequence like AGAGAG or TATATA) which makes them difficult to assembly using computer software. However, the more spider genomes, the better! The repetitive regions may exist in regions which contain genes for silk and venom, so not only is the genome a great idea for our project, but super important for us learning about spider diversity in general.
