- Andor KissResearcherThe problem is not cheap per se, but rather how to do it well. Human genome re-sequencing is relatively easy, as one is mapping to a reference. De novo assembly from short-reads into coherent scaffolds is a whole different problem. Additionally, BGI does straight-forward sequencing projects very well, it does do novel and complicated projects well. And this is what we are doing. We may have them fill in some of the gaps with HiSeq3000/4000, but I suspect that they won't have better approaches than US based facilities.Aug 23, 20170

- cc chanHi~ company BGI from china provide cheap service to seq a whole human genome. Will it be faster and cheaper if just send wood frog DNA to them and pay them? anyway add oil. thxAug 23, 20170
- Andor KissResearcherHi Aaron, We're going to get started this summer. There was an intentional delay in the start of the project as Illumina introduced their new high capacity HiSeq3000 and HiSeq4000 instruments. There was also time needed to let these instruments find their way to university core-labs. Now that this has happened, we're going to start the process.Apr 26, 20160

- Andor KissResearcherHi Andrew, Thanks for the pledge & thanks fro the suggestion of slashdot & BoingBoing. I contacted NPR, but so far no response. - AndorOct 27, 20140

- David SwansonThis frog might hold the key to the cryopreservation of organs and potentially living organism. I'll be sure to fund soon. The market potential for perfected cryopreservation is amazing.Oct 11, 20141
- Andor KissResearcherThanks David - yes, I think the frog has a lot to teach us about cold and freezing strategies.Oct 13, 20140
