Meet DNAnexus, our new partner!

Hello everybody! We are excited to introduce DNAnexus, a new member of our lovely team working to sequence Ntombi's genome.

The DNAnexus platform lets you store data and custom tools in virtual containers called projects that are accessible from the web and the command line. You can create complex workflows piecing together multiple tools and run your datasets through them - and it's secure and scaleable on the cloud.

The DNAnexus team is going to be helping our lab upload Ntombi's raw and annotated genomes onto a project within their platform and make it publicly available. They've already done similar work with the Ebola virus genome (super cool, be sure to check it out!). They've also offered to lend us their expertise for the computational analyses on the datasets.

We're thrilled to have them on board!

We'll leave you with a picture of Ntombi,

About This Project

We are sequencing the genome of a beautiful black rhino. Her name is Ntombi, and she is one of only 5,055 black rhinos alive in the world. Three out of eight original subspecies have been poached to extinction and the remaining five subspecies are critically endangered. With Ntombi's genome sequence we will be able to advance scientists' understanding of this endangered species that has played a critical role in our ecosystem for over 50 million years.

Blast off!
