Yes, the Dicty cells traveled inside an envelope. It must be almost like traveling in the middle aisle of an airplane... you do not get a view of the Ocean. Otherwise, room temperature from door to door. Moreover, Dicty are social amoeba, and many cells traveled together. I suspect the trip was a lot of fun for them.
