Restart with New Geometry!

After a lot of work, we are starting with a new geometry. In my previous lab note, I pointed out some geometry-related issues that I was having with the newest geometry. All of those issues have be...

A New Year with New Simulations

Last year, we finished up the first set of simulations and started working on starting the second set. The last post I left you with the new geometry on the was more or less completed, and I though...

New Geometry for Second Set of Simulations Almost Completed

Like I shared in a previous post, the first set of simulations gave valuable insight into instabilities in the solution. Although this laser-heating induced rubidium runaway has been observed in ac...

Proceeding to Second Set of Simulations!

This morning, I was reminded that we are coming up on a milestone for the project: proceed to the second set of 16 simulations. The first set was VERY illuminating of the behavior of the system, an...

Initial Results from Higher Temperature Cells

Some initial visualizations of the results have become available. A lot of of the so called "Full Cell" results have completed, and I'm noticing something very unexpected: there don't appear to be ...

Reproducibility and Checklists in Science

One of the key components to science is that it be reproducible. I recall as a graduate student, my group was puzzling over some confusing results we'd observed in a particular experiment. My advis...

Thanks so much for pointing that out. I'm not quite sure what happened with the video, but here is a link to the right video (I hope): https://youtu.be/em2iovI9EJU. It's super quick. Just a one second visualization created by 10 time steps. This was a test run to assure that the code was functioning well enough to try a longer run with all the test parameters. Thanks for suggesting that I reach out to Chris. I'll contact you via messenger to get some more information.
